THE WINNER IS RICHARD MILLWARD

Richard Millward - With Certificate

The final whistle has gone on Edge Careers’ Fantasy Football League and we are delighted to say. Richard Millward has finished top of the pile, meaning he has won the amazing prize of a four day trip to New York.

In a season where there has been huge surprises, namely Leicester being crowned Premier League champions, Richard managed to be the ‘Claudio Ranieri’ of the league and pick the team that has led him to victory.

It has been no easy ride though, as even with just one game to go, the gap between Richard Millward in 1st and Andy Weir in 2nd was only 2 points, creating a nervous Tuesday night for Richard. With only 3 minutes of added time to play, Andy Weir looked certain to be our winner, but then in the 92nd minute, with the last kick of the game, Chris Smalling scored an own goal allowing Richard to be crowned our winner.

Richard Millward’s team, Just Obita Fun, scored a brilliant 2,318 points to win the Edge Careers Fantasy Football League by just 2 points, ranking 1,559 out of 3,734,001 in the world.

Here is how the top 10 ended up:

Richard Millward

Everyone at Edge Careers would like to thank all who have taken part in this season’s Fantasy Football league and made it such an enjoyable competition.

All of us would like to congratulate Richard and we all hope that you enjoy your trip.

We are thoroughly looking forward to next season’s Fantasy Football league and hope to see you all again next season, in a bigger and better league. So stay tuned for updates on when we will be kicking off registrations.

Richard has been asked to take pictures on his trip, along with an Edge Careers mascot. We hope to share these photos with you upon Richards return.

Until next season, Richard Millward, New York is waiting for you!

Our Residential Divisional Manager, Heidi Genner, has gained the support of none other than TV legend Bradley Walsh. There is no doubt that with this entrant Heidi is firmly in the lead of the competition and well on the way to getting the winning money for her charity, the Make A Wish Foundation, to whom Bradley Walsh is an ambassador.

Bradley, widely known for presenting The Chase and also for his role in Coronation Street,  first appeared on our screens in 1994 when he became part of the presenting team on the national lottery.  Following on from this, Bradley became the host of game show Midas touch and also the British adaptation of Wheel of Fortune.

He then moved onto acting, which saw Bradley take on roles in the popular film Mike Bassett: England Manager and also appearing in 269 episodes of Coronation Street.

Moving back to presenting in 2007, Bradley Walsh now adorns our screens every day at 5pm  hosting the hit television quiz show The Chase on ITV1.

What Not To Do At Interview

For many people, interviews can be a scary and nervy experience, so we have put together 5 things you should definitely NOT do during interview.

The below points may seem obvious, but you would be amazed at how many people forget these basics and the importance of these from an interviewer’s prospective.

1 – Show up late

Showing up late to your interview immediately gives your potential employer a bad first impression. They will be thinking if you can’t turn up on time to an interview, can you turn up on time to work? It is important to remember if you are going to be late due to unforeseen circumstances i.e. traffic, then give either your recruitment consultant or the offices/interviewer a call to let them know in advance.

2 – Answer a phone call or reply to a text

Answering your phone during an interview is a big no. This will make the interviewer think that you are disinterested in the role and you will come across as rude. If there is a genuine reason for you to need to answer your phone, then you should  inform the interviewer beforehand so they understand, otherwise it is best to put your phone on silent or switch it off.

3 – Act unprofessionally

Acting unprofessionally in an interview is a sure fired way not to get the job. If you are sat across from the interviewer chewing gum, twirling your hair or swearing, they will be thinking if this is how you act in an interview, how will you act at work or in front of clients?

4 – Dress inappropriately

Dressing inappropriately will give off the wrong impression from the start, unless the interviewer has otherwise stated, you should always show up to an interview in smart clothing. This will show the interviewer that you have made an effort and give them a professional impression.

5 – Be disengaged

Being disengaged will make the interviewer think that you do not want the role, fidgeting, mumbling, not answering questions and avoiding eye contact are all things that will make the employer think that you are not interested in the role. It is important to be clear in your communication with the interviewer, answering questions and making eye contact will all make the interviewer engage with you and believe that you are interested in getting the job.

Avoid doing any of these five points and you will give the interviewer the right impression from the start of the interview. These combined with your experience, which they will have already shown an interest in by inviting you to an interview, will put you in a good position to move forward in the recruitment process.

Final Game

With the Manchester United v Bournemouth game being postponed until Tuesday evening, we have one game left before the Edge Careers Fantasy Football League Champion and more importantly the winner of the amazing trip to New York can be decided.

The current gap between 1st and 2nd is only 2 points and here is our top 10:

Table
As you can see Richard Millward’s team, Just Obita Fun, currently leads the league with 2,314 points, which is only 2 points more than Andy Weir’s, Weir’s Beards, with both teams having Man Utd players in them and automatic substitutions to be made, this is going to be a nail biting end to the season.

The final game of the season is to be played on Tuesday at 8pm, so by Wednesday morning we will know who our lucky winner is and who will be jetting off for four days to New York!

Edge Careers Dance for Three Hours to Help Raise Money for Peter Kay – Dance for Life

On Saturday 23rd April, Edge Careers staff flocked to the Barclaycard arena in Birmingham to take part in Peter Kay’s Dance for Life. The night was a three hour, non-stop dance-a-thon where many suspect shapes were thrown and strange outfits were worn, all in the name of raising money for Cancer Research UK. So far, over £100,000 has been raised for the charity, but you can still do your bit by donating on the official Just Giving page, here. The Phoenix Nights ace put on an incredible performance and made it a real night to remember for everyone involved.

Have a look at some of the shots from the brilliant night.
