We’re working with a contractor looking for Site Agent to take the lead on a busy project in Birmingham. The Site Agent will act as the construction lead on site, managing the day-to-day supervision of works. The role involves overseeing site preparation prior to project launch and ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of works throughout the construction phase.

The initial two months of the role will involve night works carrying out trial holes, followed by approximately six months in the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase, before progressing into the main junction improvement works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in compiling the initial construction programme and maintain full awareness of weekly targets

  • Plan and oversee site setup, ensuring appropriate welfare and site facilities are in place prior to project commencement

  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors working on site

  • Take ownership of Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Sustainability (HSEQS) compliance at all times

  • Maintain and enforce quality control procedures in line with project requirements

  • Ensure Temporary Works Registers (TWR) are in place, maintained, and kept up to date

  • Monitor and report on onsite energy usage and waste data

  • Ensure an effective site registration system is in place to monitor personnel entering and leaving the site

  • Proactively flag issues to Contract Management and Commercial Teams that could impact project delivery, including:

    • Materials availability

    • Work schedules and sequencing

    • Resource constraints

    • Health & Safety concerns

    • Cost or programme risks

  • Drive project momentum by planning and controlling site activities

  • Coordinate and prioritise the sequencing of works on site

  • Lead, manage, and motivate a team of foremen and site-based staff

Qualifications & Experience

  • Trade or technical construction background

  • IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety management qualification

  • Temporary Works and Excavation Safety training

  • Experience with permitting requirements for live energy works

  • Working at Height and Scaffolding training

  • Lifting and Cranage operations competence

  • Additional HSEQS training as required by the site HSE plan

  • Experience using new technology and digital systems in construction

  • Understanding of BIM strategy and its application on live projects
