About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team. You will oversee design teams and manage all processes required to produce construction issue deliverables, ensuring projects are delivered on time, to quality standards, and in compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the design process with commercial, contractual, programme, and technical awareness.

  • Review tender opportunities and support value engineering.

  • Lead internal and external design consultant and subcontractor teams.

  • Prepare, monitor, and report on the Design Information Release Schedule, Design Programme, and Design Responsibility Matrix.

  • Ensure design processes comply with legislation, standards, and codes of practice.

  • Develop and implement drawing and document control systems.

  • Support the Project Manager and Planner in aligning construction and design programmes.

  • Assist in procurement schedule development and commercial considerations.

  • Chair project design meetings and design coordination workshops.

  • Review project design information for content, quality, H&S, CDM, and compliance.

  • Manage the RFI process and maintain accurate registers.

  • Liaise with clients, contractors, subcontractors, statutory authorities, and stakeholders.

  • Manage client expectations and provide guidance on design obligations.

  • Ensure timely, high-quality design information aligned with project schedules.

  • Support on-site SHEQ, site QA, ITP files, traffic management, and fire plans.

  • Assist in BIM implementation and development of company BIM standards.

  • Conduct quality inspections and report on site quality issues.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant design or construction-related qualification.

  • Construction industry experience.

  • Strong leadership skills and attention to detail.

  • IT literate with excellent communication skills.

  • Good understanding of construction processes and buildability.

Desirable

  • Experience with MS Office, document control, and Viewpoint (or equivalent).

  • Knowledge of BIM processes, procedures, and software.
