Their West Midlands and South West business are seeking a driven and experienced Regional Business Development Manager to join the team and contribute to continued growth and success in the region.
About the role
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities within the public, private, and social housing construction market. This role requires a strong understanding of the construction industry, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a proven track record of success in business development.
Key Responsibilities
Market Research & Analysis:
Conduct research to identify potential clients, projects, and market trends. Analyse competitor activities and develop differentiation strategies.
Lead Generation:
Proactively identify and generate new leads through networking, industry events, online platforms, and referrals.
Client Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers across public sector, developers, and consultants.
Proposal Development:
Lead the preparation of compelling proposals and presentations, working with pre-construction and operational teams.
Negotiation & Closing:
Successfully negotiate and close deals, ensuring profitability and alignment with company objectives.
Sales Pipeline Management:
Manage the opportunity pipeline, track progress, and provide regular performance updates to senior leadership.
Networking & Industry Engagement:
Actively participate in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote the business.
Collaboration:
Work closely with pre-construction, framework sector leads, operations, and commercial teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare regular reports on business development activity and analyse performance data to optimise strategies.
About You
Proven track record in business development within the construction industry, ideally with tier 1 main contractor experience.
Strong understanding of the construction process, including design, estimating, and project management.
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Positive, enthusiastic, and personable approach.
Strong negotiation and closing skills.
Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently.
Ability to work to deadlines with a strong eye for detail.
Willingness to travel as required.
