Weight Loss Challenge

With both men actively trying to lose weight, Edge Careers thought we would give them a little incentive and so has set them the challenge of losing 3 stone in just 20 weeks.

If they succeed by the 9th February 2017, Edge Careers will buy them both a new fitted suit to go with their slim new look.

So gentlemen it is time to cue the rocky montage video.

Charity Dinner Raises £3,000

Charity Evening

Edge Careers along with the group businesses for brum have made a donation to the great charity Alex’s Wish. Stuart Smith, one of our principal recruitment consultants, was humbled to be invited as guest of Morgan Sindall for a charity dinner to raise money for the great cause. Alex’s Wish was created to fund the battle against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a severe and progressive muscle wasting disease. Alex is 10 years old and if the disease follows its classic course it will leave him in a wheelchair by age 12 and paralysed by his teens and not live beyond his twenties. At this moment in time there is no cure, this is why Alex’s Wish was created. Their mission is to raise £1m by 2020 to get into the hands of the world’s leading scientists who have the best chance of finding a cure.

The evening managed to raise £3,000 for the charity and was supported by guest speaker and England Rugby world cup winner, Neil Back.

Morgan Sindall’s attendance at the charity dinner was only a small part of their ongoing support of Alex’s Wish, with members of the company completing a charity bike ride form London to Paris, which raised over £22,000.

Stuart who has been with Edge Careers for over 2 years, comes from a Civil Engineering background gaining a degree in the subject before working in the industry for 6 years.

Stuart is excited to be making this change in his career and looks forward to successfully leading our Civil Engineering team.

Patrick Monahan Is The First To Wear The Celebrity T-Shirt

The Edge Careers celebrity competition has had its first contender, Stuart Smith our Permanent Principal Consultant has managed to get Patrick Monahan to wear the #HowFamousAmI t-shirt.

Patrick Monahan is a stand-up comedian who has performed over 10 times at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He has also won the television competition series Take the Mike in 2001 and Show Me the Funny in 2011.

Patrick has taken part in a number of other television competitions including, participating in the BBC One programme Let’s Dance for Sport Relief and in 2014, Patrick Monahan participated in the second series of the ITV celebrity diving show Splash.

One of Patrick’s many achievements is holding the world record for the longest hug with a time of 25 hours and 25 minutes.

Edge Careers’ Funny Man

Edge Careers’ very own Stuart Smith completed ‘Theo’s Comedy Skool’  and performed his comedy routine at the Artrix in Bromsgrove. Coming out in the second half of the show, Stu brought the crowd to tears with laughter, performing a range of jokes and managed to get through his FIRST EVER comedy performance unscathed.

I think it is safe to say that he loved every second of it and looks forward to his next performance.

A couple of months ago we posted about a comedy night that our Principal Consultant, Stuart Smith, would be taking part in to release his inner comedian to a live audience. The show is now just around the corner and Stuart has his routine nailed down to a tee (or so he tells us!), thanks to his comedy workshops he’s been taking part in over the past five weeks.

The event kicks off at 8 p.m. Saturday 5th December at the Artrix Theatre and tickets are on sale now, so get involved and join us in having a great night out.

We would like as many of you as possible to come along for the show as we believe it will be a really great night out and a chance to let your hair down. there will be other great amateur comedians set to perform on the night who have also been taking part in the comedy workshops with Stuart.

Stuart Smith to Perform at Comedy Night!

We are excited to announce that Stuart Smith of Edge Careers is set to perform a stand up comedy routine at the Artrix theatre in Bromsgrove on Saturday 5th December at 8PM!

Stu will be taking part in 5 weekly comedy workshops in the run up to his stand up performance in order to build up his material and sharpen his routine in time for his performance. He will be doing his stand up in the Studio theartre which has a crowd capacity of over 70 people!

Stu has never performed before, but being a naturally funny man (or at least he would like to think so) the Edge Careers team believes he’ll do a great performance and we are all really looking forward to it.

Happy 40th birthday, Stu!

Our Principal Permanent Consultant Stuart Smith turned 40 today, so the Edge Careers team have all chipped in to get him a nice new watch, but Stu seems to be more pleased with his cake!
