About the Role

Our client, a well-established contractor is looking to appoint a Site Engineer / Senior Site Engineer to join their team in Cambridgeshire. This is an exciting opportunity to work on residential groundworks projects across the eastern counties area, with a patch ranging from King’s Lynn down to Bishop’s Stortford.

The role offers flexibility on location, provided you are based in Cambridgeshire or the surrounding areas, with workload and travel tailored to where you live.

What you’ll do

As a Site/Senior Site Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering accurate, high-quality setting out across residential groundwork projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Interpreting and checking drawings, co-ordinates, and technical details.

  • Carrying out precise setting out for roads, sewers, and infrastructure.

  • Maintaining, calibrating, and managing surveying instruments.

  • Monitoring site requirements and allocating resources effectively.

  • Liaising with Contracts Managers, Project Managers, Foremen, and client engineers to resolve discrepancies and ensure smooth progress.

  • Keeping accurate records and reporting on project progress and incurred costs.

  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.

  • Supporting colleagues and contributing to a strong team culture.

What we’re looking for

  • Background in engineering for housing and infrastructure.

  • Proven experience in setting out residential groundworks (roads and sewers).

  • Ability to manage multiple sites effectively.

  • Strong AutoCAD knowledge and technical understanding.

  • Excellent numerical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.

  • Highly organised, accurate, and detail-driven.

  • Able to prioritise under pressure while remaining proactive and self-motivated.

  • Full UK Driving Licence.
