We’re representing a leading main contractor in their search for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial team with quantity surveying duties and provide effective financial and contractual control on all allocated contracts within the London Business.

About the Role

Working within the Construction London & Home Counties business, you will:

  • Contribute to achieving appropriate commercial results through accurate financial reporting.

  • Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts, both financially and contractually, to secure full entitlements under the contract.

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through consistent high-quality service and project delivery.

  • Support site teams on contract requirements and ensure commercial compliance.

  • Identify, secure, and deliver business forecasts in both turnover and margin.

  • Place and manage subcontract orders, ensuring payments are timely, correct, and any commercial issues are resolved.

  • Monitor subcontractor performance against programme targets.

  • Obtain competitive quotes by understanding current market trends.

  • Assist in producing cost value reconciliation reports and forecast cash recovery, ensuring alignment with financial targets.

  • Prepare and submit applications for payment and invoices within agreed terms to meet WIP and cash targets.

  • Monitor internal expenditure against budget and maximise efficiency of reporting systems.

  • Seek opportunities to maximise value and minimise costs in line with company values.

  • Operate and maintain systems necessary for effective contract management.

  • Ensure excellent customer service and achieve Perfect Delivery on all projects.

  • Support and coach other team members on commercial and contractual awareness.

  • Liaise with clients, representatives, and third parties on commercial issues, including variations, claims, and additional payments.

  • Manage the financial closure of projects, ensuring all costs and values are correctly allocated and reported.

Requirements / Key Skills

  • Experience managing your own projects, ideally within two-stage procurement processes.

  • Significant experience in main contracting, with exposure to Leisure, Commercial, Educational, or Life Science schemes valued between £10m and £60m.

  • A good understanding of construction techniques.

  • A BSc or HND (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline.

  • Membership (or working towards membership) of RICS is desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of site records, interim/final account payments, cost reporting, and materials received records.

  • Experience with period cost reporting and familiarity with COINS (or similar software).
