Edge Careers is partnering with a well-established Groundworks Contractor to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Advisor. Due to continued growth and additional project wins, the business is expanding its team, offering opportunities for career progression.
We are seeking Health & Safety professionals with experience in the Construction sector. While a background in Groundworks & Civils is advantageous, it is not essential. The successful candidate will oversee multiple live projects across a regional patch (West Midlands/East Midlands) and will typically be site-based, traveling within approximately a 90-minute radius of Birmingham.
This role offers support from an experienced Health & Safety team, a company vehicle, and a fuel card. This is a direct PAYE position, and the salary is negotiable based on experience.
Responsibilities:
Provide support and guidance to senior management and colleagues on SHE matters.
Attend pre-commencement meetings to contribute proactively to project planning.
Advise the organization on statutory notices and compliance requirements.
Prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policies.
Plan and conduct site visits and audits, including reporting and follow-up actions.
Identify training needs and deliver on-site training, including toolbox talks.
Investigate accidents and incidents thoroughly.
Ensure company compliance with CDM regulations and other relevant legislation.
Escalate serious breaches of company policy, procedures, or legislation to senior contacts.
Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the company.
Requirements:
Proficient in First Aid techniques and emergency response protocols.
Strong report writing skills, producing clear and concise documentation for internal and regulatory purposes.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to maintaining high health and safety standards.
Relevant Health & Safety qualification (IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent).
Previous experience as a Health & Safety Advisor.
Ability to work independently while contributing to team and company strategy.
IT literate.
Full driving licence.
