​​We are looking for an Experienced Estimator to join a well-established, family-run construction business based in Cambridge. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across sectors including healthcare, education, defence, R&D, life sciences, commercial, industrial, and residential.

What we’re looking for:

  • Ambitious, self-motivated, and proactive, with the ability to work independently or within a collaborative team.

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and a clean driving license.

  • Highly organised, conscientious, and focused on achieving targets and meeting deadlines.

  • Experience in commercial, MOD, education, or healthcare projects is ideal, along with familiarity with different procurement routes (D&B, Traditional, 2-Stage) and projects ranging £2m–£30m—but training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Producing cost plans from early RIBA stages to fully measured & rated BQs.

  • Taking off quantities from drawings and producing detailed cost plans.

  • Leading tender enquiries, subcontractor comparisons, and identifying scope gaps.

  • Engaging with supply chain for value engineering options.

  • Pricing site preliminaries, variations, and groundworks (Labour, Plant, Materials).

  • Conducting site visits and presenting tender information to project teams.

  • Using benchmarking and inflation forecasting tools to inform pricing.

  • Liaising with buying departments for material quotations and managing risk/opportunity registers.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong numeracy and commercial awareness.

  • Excellent organisation, time management, and teamwork skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Causeway or other estimating software is desirable.

  • Clear and professional communication with clients and colleagues.
