About Pete

Pete has worked in and around the construction industry for over 35 years, starting out in a site office role on a retirement homes project. That early experience gave him a solid introduction to the industry and led him to take up a Trainee Buyer position shortly afterwards. From there, he steadily progressed through various procurement roles, eventually becoming Purchasing Manager for a national contractor.

In 2005, Pete was invited by a former Managing Director to help set up and run a contracting business. The company had a strong few years, but like many others, it was impacted by the 2008 recession and eventually closed.

Since 2009, Pete has taken his industry experience in a different direction, moving into construction recruitment with Edge Partners, which has since evolved into Edge Careers. He is now the Managing Director, working closely with the teams to support clients and candidates across the sector. His focus is on ensuring the company operates with integrity, clarity, and a real understanding of the industry it serves.

As the world becomes increasingly technology-driven, Pete believes it’s vital not to lose sight of what really matters—people. He cares deeply about building a company where people feel valued, supported, and inspired to reach their potential. He wants the team to enjoy what they do, have fun doing it, and still have the space to live a full life outside of work. Helping people realise their goals, whether in their career or personal life, is something he genuinely cares about.
