Olivia Finn becomes the latest recruiter to join our dynamic London office.

Olivia has worked the majority of her career within sales, initially starting off selling “Spa Days” to unsuspecting targets on the streets of SOHO during University holidays. Following this, Olivia became a Project Manager within the London residential market selling refurbishment packages, initially for a developer for four years and then for her own business for a further three.
Deciding it was time to expand her skill set, Olivia joined a boutique search firm in London, where she spent five years honing her skills as a recruitment consultant specialising in Building Services and heading up their M&E Division.

Working out of our London office, Olivia will be heading up M&E recruitment for the region.

We would like to wish Olivia the best of luck in her new role, where we are sure that she will use her existing skills and experience to become a vital member of the London team.

London’s ‘Gotham City’ Approved

Henderson Global Investors has gained planning approval for its 40 Leadenhall Street office scheme in the City of London.

The £400m scheme by architect Make has been dubbed “Gotham City”.

It ranges in height from seven to 34 storeys and includes 890,000 sq ft of office space and 20,000 sq ft of shops.

All the buildings on the Leadenhall Triangle site will be demolished except for a grade II-listed building at 19-21 Billiter Street, which Henderson has pledged to restore and integrate into the scheme.

The project will create 390 full-time jobs during construction, which is expected to start early next year.

Nick Deacon, Director of Property, Central London Offices, Henderson Global Investors,said: “We are delighted to have achieved a resolution to grant planning permission for what will be a very exciting addition to the London skyline and a valuable contribution to the City’s ever evolving tower cluster.

“This is a significant step forward for the project. We are committed to progressing the scheme and have begun to explore a number of options to achieve this.”

Paul Scott, Make partner and lead project architect, said: “The design breaks new ground and will join the City of London’s iconic portfolio of modern buildings.”

The building will be located in the City of London’s insurance district of EC3 and within the Eastern Cluster of tall buildings around the Gherkin.

It has been designed to meet the BREEAM Excellent standard and will boast over 1,000 bicycle spaces.

WSP are the structural engineers and EC Harris cost consultants on the project.

£500m Culture Quarter Plans

Developer London & Regional Properties has revealed plans for a major new cultural quarter at Elephant & Castle in south London.

The Skipton House office block, located between the tube station and London South Bank University, will be demolished to make way for the office and residential complex, which will boast sky gardens.

The emerging plans for the London Road site will double the existing office space to over 500,000 sq ft and deliver 450 homes.

Designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, the scheme will provide significant public realm and open space including improvements to local cycling routes.

Geoffrey Springer, head of development at London & Regional said: “We are proposing a significant investment in the regeneration of Elephant & Castle, which will celebrate the area’s cultural heritage.

“This will be an iconic development, providing new cultural and community space and, most importantly, new jobs and homes. The development will also deliver new open space and a vastly improved public realm, strengthening the ongoing regeneration of Elephant and Castle.”

VolkerStevin Bags Super Sewer Enabling Works

VolkerStevin has been appointed by Thames Water to carry out enabling works in advance construction of the massive Thames Tideway Tunnel

The £23m project will involve preparing the way for numerous marine construction projects along the Thames.

It follows the appointment of J Murphy and Sons earlier this year to undertake utility protection and diversion works for the project.

Rob Coupe, managing director at VolkerStevin, said: “This is an exciting project and one we are proud to be a part of.

“After a successful early contractor phase, we are delighted to continue working on this important scheme, which will benefit Londoner’s for years to come.”

The work is all part of the larger Thames Tideway Tunnel project  which will help the capital cope with growing demands on its sewerage system and improve the water quality of the river using combined sewer overflow interceptor structures.

Mark Sneesby, chief operating officer for Tideway, said: “VolkerStevin will deliver this important preparatory work in advance of the main tunnelling project next year.

“It’s great to see work actually beginning on what will be an exciting construction project.”
