Desmond DouglasDesmond Douglas is a British table tennis player, who became an 11 time English Table Tennis Champion. At his peak he was rated world number 7 and European number 3, being most notably known for his scissor jump smash, and for his use of pips-out block on the backhand side, mixing pace with powerful topspin from his forehand side.

In 1987 Desmond Douglas was awarded an MBE for his contribution to sport, a year later Desmond represented Great Britain at the Seoul Olympics, in both the singles and doubles table tennis competitions.

Desmond is still actively involved in table tennis, coaching throughout the country, including training some of the top young British prospects at the Youth Development Squad.
