Job Title: Principal Estimator
Location: Corby
Salary: £95,000-£110,000 plus package
We are recruiting for an experienced Principal Estimator to join a leading UK construction business within its Preconstruction team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the estimating process for major construction tenders.
Coordinate bid teams to deliver high-quality, competitive submissions.
Prepare accurate cost estimates using Conquest (or similar) estimating software.
Interpret drawings, specifications, bills of quantities (SMM7/NRM) and project requirements.
Assess construction methodologies, preliminaries and project risks.
Liaise with clients, consultants and the supply chain throughout the bid process.
Identify value engineering opportunities and support successful tender outcomes.
Ensure compliance with company procedures and health & safety standards.
Requirements
Proven experience delivering successful construction tenders.
Strong knowledge of estimating principles, construction methods and cost planning.
Experience managing bids and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project) and Conquest or equivalent estimating software.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and bills of quantities.
Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications
Essential
Strong numeracy and written communication skills.
Valid CSCS card.
Desirable
HNC/HND, NVQ Level 4, Degree or equivalent in Construction.
Working towards MCIOB or MRICS.
