Salary: £95,000-£110,000 plus package


We are recruiting for an experienced
Principal Estimator to join a leading UK construction business within its Preconstruction team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the estimating process for major construction tenders.

  • Coordinate bid teams to deliver high-quality, competitive submissions.

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates using Conquest (or similar) estimating software.

  • Interpret drawings, specifications, bills of quantities (SMM7/NRM) and project requirements.

  • Assess construction methodologies, preliminaries and project risks.

  • Liaise with clients, consultants and the supply chain throughout the bid process.

  • Identify value engineering opportunities and support successful tender outcomes.

  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and health & safety standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering successful construction tenders.

  • Strong knowledge of estimating principles, construction methods and cost planning.

  • Experience managing bids and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project) and Conquest or equivalent estimating software.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and bills of quantities.

  • Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Strong numeracy and written communication skills.

  • Valid CSCS card.

Desirable

  • HNC/HND, NVQ Level 4, Degree or equivalent in Construction.

  • Working towards MCIOB or MRICS.
