Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Hull

A family owned main contractor is seeking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to work in their office based in Hull. The business is currently turning over £60 between their 3 divisions, which are Construction, Building & Maintenance and Developments.

My client is looking for a candidate to work for their Building & Maintenance division which has an annual turnover of £14million and undertakes maintenance, refurbishment, new build and facilities management projects up to individual values of £2million.

The division carries out an average 2220 maintenance order per annum from the smallest minor responsive maintenance to substantial planned Facilities Management contracts.

Candidate profile:

Due to a period of continued planned growth our Building & Maintenance division require an Assistant Quantity Surveyor

The ideal candidate will fit the following criteria and have the ability to excel in the requirements of the job description.

    * Location within easy access of our offices, this we would consider inside 50 minutes of travel.
    * The individual will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working within the Construction Industry.
    * A positive attitude is essential and a willingness to adapt to changing conditions.
    * A team player.
    * Graduate with a Quantity Surveying degree also considered.

Job Description

    * Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor
    * Responsible to: Building & Maintenance Commercial Manager
    * Job Role: To provide Quantity Surveying and Estimating support within the busy Building and Maintenance Department

Formal Qualifications and Skills

    * The successful candidate as a minimum standard will have, or be working towards obtaining a HNC or equivalent in a construction based subject – support with further education/training will be considered
    * Ability to be flexible and work closely with the existing Building and Maintenance team.
    * The applicant should be commercially aware.
    * Have confidence working with a varied Client Portfolio and Supply Chain on a variety of contracts from reactive maintenance to £1.5m schemes
    * Good knowledge of IT – E-Mail, Word, Excel, Microsoft Project. The successful candidate will also be expected to learn about and use our in house accounts and document storage software applications.
