Edge Careers Director Heidi Genner has raised an incredible £4,208 for Breast Cancer Now following a successful ‘Sweet Treats and Tea’ charity afternoon at Holy Trinity Hall in Wordsley.
Following her own breast cancer diagnosis last year, Heidi wanted to turn a challenging personal experience into something positive, using her story to raise awareness and support others affected by breast cancer.
The sell-out afternoon brought together more than 100 family and friends for tea, cake, raffles, and an auction, with generous prize donations from a range of local and national businesses helping to make the event a huge success.
Heidi also shared her JustGiving appeal through her wider network, including LinkedIn, where friends, colleagues and professional connections joined those closest to her in showing their support.
The funds raised will go to Breast Cancer Now, the charity that’s steered by world-class research and powered by life-changing care. The charity supports anyone affected by breast cancer, providing support for today and hope for the future, while funding research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
Breast Cancer Now has an ambition that by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live and be supported to live well.
Heidi commented:“It has taken me a long time to feel ready to share my story, but I wanted to do something positive with what I have experienced. The support I have received has been overwhelming. To see so many people come along to the afternoon, businesses donating fantastic prizes, and friends, colleagues and people in my wider network supporting my JustGiving page has meant so much to me. I am incredibly proud that we have raised £4,208 for Breast Cancer Now. I hope the money will help support other women going through breast cancer today, as well as the research that will help make a difference for those diagnosed in the future. Most importantly, I want other women to know that they are not alone. If sharing my story and raising this money can help even one person, then it has all been worthwhile.”
