Legendary football commentator John Motson, also known as Motty and for his big sheep skin coat, has commentated on over 1,500 games on television and radio, including covering all the major football championships: World Cups, FA Cups, and European Championships.
In 2008, Motty announced his retirement from live television commentary. The Euro 2008 final was his last live television broadcast. He has continued since then to cover games for Match of the Day and appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live, as well as releasing his own book, Motty: Forty Years in the Commentary Box.
As well as commentating, John has also been on the big screen in films, such as Bend it like Beckham and provided the voice of a character in Flushed away.
